Overview:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations and professional nursing practice of assigned unit(s). Responsible for hiring and firing of nursing personnel, periodic employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities. Responsible for cost center(s) budgets. Supervises RN's, Patient Care Associates, Clerical Associates and other clinical support personnel. Coaches and mentors the Assistant Nurse Manager, if applicable, for succession planning.
Responsibilities:
- Acquires and effectively uses human resources to provide quality, cost-effective patient care
- Ensures each patient has:
- Admission database
- Problem list within 24 hours
- Nursing notes reflecting response to care
- Provides appropriate staffing levels for safe, effective care
- Achieves fiscal goals by managing budgets and productivity
- Promotes interdepartmental communication and collaboration
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
- Ensures adherence to the Nurse Practice Act
- Creates an environment for professional growth
- Participates in performance improvement (PI) initiatives
Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education: Master's in Nursing or related field.
Required Licensure/Certifications:
- Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida
- BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas.
- ACLS from the American Heart Association is required at hire
Preferred Licensure/Certifications: Professional Certification.
Required Experience: 1-2 years - Management experience. -AND- 3-5 years - Clinical experience.
Preferred Experience: Minimum of 3 years clinical experience with demonstrated increasing responsibilities.
